Running the appliance

The settings you make once, and the actions you repeat.

At a glance

  1. WhereAdministration (cog).
  2. AccessAdministration; the vault needs device management.
  3. DataNone.

What the screen shows

Password Vault

Entry name, username, password, enable password, notes, and the SNMP fields with the module. Passwords are encrypted; an entry belongs to the active tenant. Changing a password in use asks for confirmation for every device using it.

Collect Schedules

Name, tenants, interval in hours (30 minutes minimum), start time in UTC, scope (all, a selection, segments), 1 to 64 workers, enabled or not.

Mail Settings

SMTP, sendmail or log, server, port, encryption, account, sender, and a test email.

Backup & Restore

Create Backup with an encryption password (8 characters at least), with or without the Elasticsearch data, for the whole system or some tenants. Upload (500 MB maximum), download, restore with a dry run, into a new tenant or overwriting an existing one.

Licensing

Status, grace expiry, next validation, offline tolerance, seats used and module catalogue. A licence in grace, expired or revoked, or offline too long, puts the application in read only mode.

Updates

Check for Updates, then Launch Upgrade; about ten minutes of interruption. The beta version is only offered with the beta module. One upgrade at a time, after a disk space check.

What you can do

  1. 1

    Back up before an upgrade

Create a backup, download it, keep it off the machine with its password, then launch the upgrade.

Limits and things to know

Vault entries cannot be deleted

In this version the vault can be edited but has no delete.

Restoring overwrites

Restoring onto an existing tenant replaces its data, with no undo: run a dry run first.
