How to find the end-of-support date of a Cisco Catalyst 2960
To find the end-of-support date of a Cisco Catalyst 2960, first identify the exact family from the part number, then read the Last Date of Support in Cisco's end-of-life notice for that family. "2960" covers several families with different dates: the original 2960, the 2960-S, the 2960-Plus, the 2960-X and the 2960-XR each have their own notice. For the 2960-Plus, the last date of support is 31 October 2026.
What you need
- Module required: inventory.
- Permission required: view_inventory.
- Every collected platform whose model has an entry in the end-of-life catalogue.

Read the exact model in the inventory
Open Inventory, then Devices, and read the Model column. The part number is what decides the family: WS-C2960+ is a 2960-Plus, WS-C2960X a 2960-X, WS-C2960XR a 2960-XR, WS-C2960S a 2960-S. The EOL column on the same list shows the lifecycle state of each device.

Open Security, then EOL Lifecycle
The models table has one row per vendor and model in your inventory, with the number of devices, the end-of-sale date (EOS), the end-of-life date, the end of support date, the replacement model and a status. Devices at risk groups the models whose dates fall within the warning window, 180 days by default, with their host names.

Check the Missing EOL data count
A model with no entry in the catalogue still appears, highlighted, with a dash for its dates, and is counted in Missing EOL data. Those are the models to look up by hand.

The dates, from Cisco's notices
Catalyst 2960-Plus, notice EOL13612: end of sale 31 October 2021, end of software maintenance 31 October 2022, end of vulnerability and security support 31 October 2026, last date of support 31 October 2026.
Catalyst 2960-X, notice EOL13603, and Catalyst 2960-XR, notice EOL13602: end of sale 31 October 2022, end of software maintenance 31 October 2023, end of vulnerability and security support 31 October 2027, last date of support 31 October 2027.
Catalyst 2960-S and 2960-SF, notice EOL10043: end of sale 6 November 2015, last date of support 30 November 2020. Original Catalyst 2960, notice EOL9449 (the fourteen WS-C2960 part numbers it lists): end of sale 31 October 2014, last date of support 31 October 2019.
Check that the notice's part number table lists your exact part number: a family can be split across several notices, and the 2960-L, 2960-C and 2960-CX are not in any of the five above.
What this view does not tell you
- Matching is on the exact model string. A catalogue row for one part number does not cover its siblings, so two models of the same family can show different states until both are catalogued.
- The dates come from a catalogue kept model by model and pulled by a daily synchronisation. A Cisco feed exists in the code; there is no feed at all for Huawei or Dell, whose dates are entered by hand or absent. A status set in the catalogue takes precedence over the dates.
- The page has no end of software maintenance column. For that date, and for the end of vulnerability support, read the Cisco notice.
